National Police Week: Honoring Those Who Serve and Protect
National Police Week (Sunday, May 10 through Saturday, May 16, 2026) offers an opportunity to recognize the men and women of law enforcement who serve with courage, professionalism, and sacrifice to protect our communities.
Every day, officers respond to dangerous and unpredictable situations to preserve public safety and maintain order. Behind every badge is a person with a family who accepts the risks of service for the benefit of others.
Strong public safety supports strong communities. Schools, neighborhoods, local businesses, and families all benefit from safe environments where people can live, work, and invest with confidence. Law enforcement also plays an important role in economic stability by helping communities remain secure and attractive to employers, workers, visitors, and investors.
Much of the work performed by law enforcement professionals happens quietly and without recognition, yet their service impacts our lives every day.
National Police Week also serves as a time to remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. Their legacy endures through the communities they protected and the officers who continue to serve.
As Lieutenant Governor, I will always Back the Blue and support initiatives that ensure law enforcement officers have the training, tools, and resources needed to protect and serve with excellence. Alabama’s law enforcement community deserves strong leadership, dependable support, and respect for the difficult work performed each day.
As we observe this important week, we extend our gratitude to every member of law enforcement and to the families who stand beside them. Their dedication strengthens our communities and helps preserve the safety and quality of life Alabamians and Americans value.
To all who wear the badge, today and every day, thank you for your service and sacrifice.
Together, we can Build a Better Alabama.
